What is in our name?
Aspen Ridge takes its name from the natural surroundings and the character of the community. Inspired by the quaking aspen tree, the name reflects a setting shaped by openness, calm, and connection to the landscape. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, creating space for honest communication and meaningful relationships between neighbours.
The quaking aspen is known for how it grows together, connected through an unseen root system beneath the surface. This quiet interdependence mirrors life at Aspen Ridge, where the community feels approachable and connected. Set within a scenic environment, it is a place that continues to grow while remaining grounded in care and shared experience.

A community built with heart
In 2007, two longtime friends and healthcare professionals, Karim Kassam and Farid F. Damji, dreamed of a better way to care for seniors. Having watched their own parents and grandparents age with dignity and love, they felt called to extend that same level of care to others. Over a cup of coffee and a restaurant napkin, the foundation for Optima Living was born—a community built not just with bricks but with heart. In 2015, with the addition of Ali Shivji as a Principal, our leadership team expanded, along with our impact.
